How to Make Honey Syrup for Cocktails
Share
Rhino has a busy weekend ahead, which means lots of cocktail prep! ๐ฆ๐น
Tonight we're headed to a tiki murder mystery detective party, and tomorrow we're mixing drinks for a birthday party and Jimmy Buffett tribute band pregame. So naturally, Rhino has some syrups to make!
One of the ingredients we need for our Three Dots and a Dash is honey syrup, so we're making a batch.
And good news: honey syrup is super easy to make. You only need two ingredients!

How to Make It
Heat honey over medium heat and bring to a near boil. Add water and whisk quickly until combined. Immediately remove from heat and let cool.
Once cooled, pour into a clean, sealable glass jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for about a month.
That's it! ๐ฏ

Why Make Honey Syrup?
If you've ever tried adding straight honey to a cold cocktail, you know it can be a little difficult to get it to mix in. Honey syrup makes things much easier and gives you that delicious honey flavor without having to fight with a spoonful of sticky honey at the bottom of your shaker.
It's also a great way to add a little extra flavor to cocktails without using plain simple syrup.
We especially love it for tiki cocktails and rum drinks, but you can use honey syrup in all kinds of cocktails.
What Can You Use Honey Syrup For?
Honey syrup is great in:
- Tiki cocktails ๐ด
- Rum cocktails
- Whiskey and bourbon cocktails
- Gin cocktails
- Citrus-forward drinks
- Tea cocktails ๐ซ
- Tropical cocktails ๐น
And if you're making a Three Dots and a Dash, you'll definitely want some on hand.
Make a batch, keep it refrigerated, and you'll have honey syrup ready for your next tiki night, cocktail party, or happy hour at home.
Cheers! ๐ฏ๐น๐ด
